Co-signing and financial help?

OK so I'm a student and I'm currently getting financial help. I have my aunt that needs a co-signer for her to purchase a home and she wants me to co- sign. She told me that after the two years she will hire a notary and take me out. somebody told me that if i help her that it will affect me in me re-applying for my financial help( for school) and in getting my home. I understand what a co-signer is and i know that if she screws up it will fall on me and she will screw me up, but my question is should i help her? how will it affect me in the future? does it affect me in me getting a home or financial help????
