Did you ever sneak your folks car out and run it through the "quarter" and outrun the guys?

We had a '57 stick shift Plymouth with great big fins and a big motor and would run like the wind!! I used to race the guys without my folks knowing and they always wondered where the gas went because I was supposed to be just going to the store!!! I loved it!!! Did you ever do that and guys did you work on your own cars?
