Why are men still predisposed to violence?

Ever since humans have been here men have been predisposed towards violence and domination. In primitive times these animal instincts probably served us very well for many reasons, however in modern times why are men STILL predisposed towards violence? We are no longer primitive human animals and now have the intellect, sophistication, civility, and logical reason to KNOW that violence and its implications are unacceptable and inhumane, yet men still persist in pursuing war, terrorism, and other forms of violence, whether that's on an individual level or an international level. Violence and domination seems hardwired into the male brain despite evolution and civilisation, etc, so will these harmful traits EVER lose their grip? I'm so tired now of our perpetual violence. Will we ever find a way to free ourselves from it so we can truly grow as a human society?
