I'm moving to colombia! need a visa?!?

Ok, I have been dating my boyfriend who is a colombian for 3 years and we have decided to move in together, meaning I move to Colombia to live. I got a little excited and went and bought a one-way ticket to Colombia (26th November) which I have heard is ok and that no one really checks. So now my predicament is that I need a visa, either work or if anyone can suggest a better visa to get that will allow me to stay for at least 6 months (prefer longer of course). To get a work visa do I have to have a job first? any other information any one can provide me would be fantastic!
